Image Recognition Based on Deep Learning Techniques
Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M) and Lancaster University are conducting cutting-edge research in the field of image recognition using deep learning. These advances combine convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and computer vision to develop optical navigation systems, perception for autonomous vehicles, and facial recognition.
Academic research addresses challenges such as estimating depth maps from monocular images (using models such as DenseDepth) and collaborating with institutions such as Lancaster University on the development of web portals and applied AI research projects. In addition, there are numerous theses and degree projects at the UC3M Higher Polytechnic School focused on detecting faces, classifying them by age range, and tracking multiple people using architectures such as FaceNet or LSTM networks.
