Welcome to the website of the Laboratory for Control, Learning, and System Optimization at Carlos III University of Madrid, located at the Higher Polytechnic School of Leganés, Madrid, Spain.
About CAOS
The CAOS group (Laboratory for Control, Learning, and System Optimization) is a leading research team within the Department of Computer Science at Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M). It was founded in 2004 and was previously part of the Scalab group.
Our work focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analysis, predictive control, optimization, artificial neural networks, pattern recognition, evolutionary computing, agent-based modeling, and time series forecasting.
One of the CAOS group’s strengths is its practical focus and its ability to transfer knowledge to the private sector; it has developed Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for urban environments, creating software based on classifier ensembles for the efficient, real-time identification of traffic signs.
Our Work in Numbers
Under the leadership of its researchers and faculty members, the CAOS group has built its reputation at the intersection of applied machine learning, ensemble models, computer vision, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
