Artificial Intelligence for Mobility

The IA4MOV Research Network is a strategic alliance of excellence that brings together leading Spanish laboratories and research groups with the goal of spearheading the transformation of transportation and the automotive industry through data science. Focused on developing technological solutions for smarter, more autonomous, safer, and more sustainable mobility, this network promotes scientific cooperation and knowledge transfer in critical areas such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), logistics fleet optimization, and predictive analysis of urban traffic. By connecting the capabilities of cutting-edge teams, IA4MOV acts as a catalyst that accelerates the transition of algorithmic innovation from university classrooms to its direct application in the industrial sector and the cities of the future.

IA4MOV is directly funded by the State Research Agency (AEI), which reports to Spain’s Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities. Its purpose is to serve as a bridge between abstract algorithms and real-world roads, connecting academic talent with the industrial sector and public administrations. Its specific objectives are divided into various layers of the mobility ecosystem, such as Autonomous Vehicles and Advanced Perception, Smart Infrastructure and Connectivity, Traffic Control and Incident Management, and Logistics, Sustainability, and New Forms of Mobility.
