The MOVECIT-MonFleet project, reference number PID2024-157191OB-C22, is a national research initiative funded by the State Research Agency (AEI). It is scheduled to run from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2028, and is part of a coordinated project aimed at developing new solutions for fleets of autonomous electric vehicles. The proposal brings together various research groups from Carlos III University of Madrid (UC3M), with the goal of improving the safety, energy efficiency, and operational reliability of these vehicles through the application of advanced artificial intelligence techniques.<\/p>\n

From a technical standpoint, the project investigates new artificial intelligence algorithms designed to understand user behavior, facilitate multimodal navigation, optimize energy consumption, and intelligently manage a fleet of autonomous vehicles. It also includes the development of advanced monitoring and anomaly detection systems capable of identifying unexpected behaviors, malfunctions, or deviations in vehicle operation. To this end, data from cameras, active sensors, instrumentation systems, and other onboard devices will be analyzed, with particular attention paid to the reliability, explainability, and transparency of the decisions made by the artificial intelligence models. <\/p>\n

The nature of the project calls for a clearly multidisciplinary approach, which is why the team includes specialists in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering, and Systems and Automation Engineering. This collaboration allows the team to jointly address perception through computer vision and sensors, vehicle control, energy efficiency, electrical technologies, and coordinated fleet management. Unlike traditional projects, which are often developed from a single scientific perspective, MOVECIT seeks to offer a comprehensive solution through the joint definition of requirements, the integration of complementary technologies, and the experimental validation of state-of-the-art prototypes. <\/p>\n

The overall project is structured into two coordinated subprojects. MOVECIT-NavEnergy focuses primarily on autonomous navigation, energy management, the creation of specialized databases, anomaly detection, and experimental validation. For its part, MOVECIT-MonFleet addresses advanced monitoring, intelligent fleet management, database generation, and the integration and validation of developments.
